Think about the UK’s reputation abroad. Lack of safe routes for refugees, migrants unwelcome, calamity of Brexit, inaction in Palestine (bearing in mind Balfour Declaration) and pensioners being arrested. It’s so sad and the legacy of empire doesn’t help. (Criticism is highest form of patriotism)
The reputation is so bad that potential immigrants who are middle or upper class now pass on the UK as they see it is broken. That should raise eye brows when people from poorer countries see the UK as not much better than their own country.
