I can’t express this enough: I do not want Brandon Sanderson’s grubby Mormon hands on any franchise I love.
As a slow writer, I find it rather horrifying the idea that if something I wrote were in some freak accident to become popular enough there's evidently a lot of people who'd happily see my work taken away from me and given to someone faster to finish (and who'd identity as my fans as they did so)

George R.R. Martin is taking forever to finish Winds of Winter, so why not hand it to fellow fantasy author Brandon Sanderson?

Art is not "content" to which we are entitled. It is a gift from an artist to its audience. But before that, it is a journey for the artist, a conversation (sometimes an argument) with themselves. It's hard, sometimes it's really fkg hard & s.times it doesn't work out & that's hardest on the artist.

In a work AI training today they referenced a Harvard professor who spoke at a recent AI conference about how he doesn’t care if students use AI they just need to include their prompts in their work and that’s evidence of critical thinking and I wanted to blow my brains out
my college kid was heartbroken when on the first day of class the professor said "I used to spend 3 weeks teaching this part, but just have AI create it for you and we'll skip it." Skipping the most creative part of the work. The part my kid most looked forward to.
