This isn’t hard: The only crime Trump cares about is the crime of opposing him. The military deployments and the threat of them are the same as his threats against on Bolton, Christy, ABC et al. If you criticize him or oppose him, he sees you as a criminal. The framing for reporters is obvious.

The “crime wave” Trump is “fighting” is the crime of opposing him. Given how often he has referred to journalists as “enemies of the people” it’s surprising the media hasn’t already reframed their reporting on all this as a simple matter of self-preservation.
