Oh man, in hindsight it looks like that whole campaign was a real failure of messaging (that thankfully we learned from)
Not being a CA resident all I remember from that era are the "NO H8" corner banners on websites, but I'm told the TV spots were detached and confusing.

I remember being in my college GSA (though we didn't call it that) and figuring that marriage equality was one of those things that was going to take decades of fighting and lobbying and begging and we'd be lucky if it happened in almost any state before about 2030
