  1. I've got on shutter's MONSTER ISLAND which is essentially The Defiant Ones vs Creature from the Black Lagoon and it had the first croc (or alligator, for that matter) I've seen in a movie that wasn't an obviously CGI cartoon since, jeez 2007's BLACK WATER? Might've been CG but felt like a real one!

  2. Today's folk monster: Dullahan, the headlesss rider of Ireland whose visage portends death

(He's sometimes a coachman, but I didn't want to draw him all tiny in order to fit a coach on a 4x6" card)

Watercolored drawing of a man wearing a dark green vest and tan slacks riding a black horse. He holds a skull with a hat in his hand and above his neck float a pair of green eyes. The green splash of paint in the background leaves a negative space where his head would be.

  3. A coworker alerted me to the fact that—starting this week—you now have to buy credits from Adobe to use the generative AI tools in the professional software we already pay a subscription fee to access, even if it generates something worthless…this isn’t a productivity tool, it’s a slot machine.

Screencap from Adobe Photoshop that reads: “most standard generative features use 1 credit per generation unless you have a plan that gives you unlimited access. Check your generative credits balance or plan details anytime from your account menu.
Learn more about generative credits.”

I am calling it: the great enshittification of AI has begun, and the Subprime AI Crisis is brewing. Cursor is jacking up prices and adding rate limits, seeing reports of similar things happening with Replit, very nasty stuff.

  4. Last year I was part of an art gallery show celebrating Mike Mignola's Hellboy. I was told my piece sold early on. The gallery was to take half of the selling price. I set the price to just cover the frame that I bought for it. Haven't heard a peep or seen a dime. If you bought this, let me know

Three Chibi-like versions of Hellboy, Abe Sapien and a crow walk down steps. A giant devil head looms out of the mist behind them.

  5. Are you an agent or a publisher looking to add to your list? There are FANTASTIC authors left in the lurch by Unbound who need homes for their existing bools and for sequels / new books. A thread, grouped by genre. Please reskeet!

Here’s YA spec fic & fantasy:

  6. Look, I know this is kinda gross, but “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” - right?
Well… If you can find it in your heart to share and/or repost - I thank you!! I’ll get back to primary art posts asap!
