In 1872 a Danish farmer found a fabulous Frankish silver cup from the Viking age on his land. David Wilson wrote “The Fejø Cup" in the 1950s. Inside it were 5 small beakers. THEN... in 2015 detectorists working with the local museum found 6 more bowls + fragments of 2 more: amazing! 📷 Nationalmuseet

For #FindsFriday a range of pre-reform coins of Charlemagne minted in Dorestad and found in Domburg in the 19th century. All are accepted as genuine/ official - clearly the apprenticeship scheme for die-cutters was not very rigorous...
