  1. So fun fact you can do both. You can use generative AI for items not worth an artists time while paying an artist for work.

  2. Haha, this is a great take on the whole AI art debate. It's a funny and creative way to say that real artists matter. Love the twist at the end, too.

  3. Both is accentable.

Being able to put your ideas on paper without all the hurdles- is nice. And while there is a lot of generic AI stuff, lacking inspiration, don't tell me regular artists produced nothing but fine wine the past 20 years. I seen it. All.

    'Both'.

    Neither is going away.

  4. This is why I think any AI image and/or video generation should be behind an enormous paywall. Like you wanna make a picture? $2,500. You want a 1-minute video, $5000. This will help real artists make a living, but will discourage defamatory "deep fake" like content from penetrating the media too.

I understand your comment. Creative expression comes in many forms, not excluding AI art.

  6. I'm trying so hard to pound this into my buddy's head and he KNOWS HOW TO MAKE ART!

He just can't let go of "yeah but we can use it to be subversive" as if using it "against itself" isn't just as bad as using it normally

Literally the only anti-capitalist inconsistency he has. Fuckin annoying 🤣

  7. AI is both not actually AI and massively massively overrated People will be so disappointed when they find out how bad it actually is

  8. People will literally use tools on drawing tablets then say AI is cheating. How much do you have to manipulate an AI image until it's considered art? What if it just makes an outline? Or used for a texture effect?

  9. I love this post!

A while ago I was impressed by a virtual modern dance performance.

I forwarded to a dancer and a tech guy and both recognized it as AI “trained” by actual artists.

It was brilliant but I would have rather have seen the footage of actual dancers bringing life to the choreography.

Even though 60 years ago, I lived within 3 miles of the Sharpie plant that makes pens and often got them for free. Today I wouldn't touch one today with a 10 foot pole. I wonder why

  11. I think we are not ready for AI; especially in law inforcement! The crooks will tirn it into unlawful activity!

  12. AI has been around in art for so long it just recently has become such an upset. I cant believe nor fathom a future where AI has the ability to create what humans do.

  13. It seems to me that being "principally" opposed to AI-generated art is based on nothing more than a desire to sell one's own traditionally created art instead.

    How am I wrong?

  14. Ai is a tool just like any other. Painters hated cameramen when they first arrived. The real problem are these bozo billionaires who don’t care about a standard quality of living for everyone on the planet. They are the demons, not some computer program.

  15. Yes of course but not everyone has the artistic ability to show the world what they can imagine.

  16. My nephew was just let go from his job (artist) because they are going to AI. It's beginning

  18. No one should ever spend a dime on generative art.

Companies shouldn't be allowed to monetize it.

The lack of regulations is disgusting.

  19. The instant you use technology to create, is the moment you used ai

Ai is the algorithm used to adjust the color of a picture

Ai is the algorithm used to look for songs 🎵 in a genre

Ai is human algorithms taught to machine logic

Master ai or lose this war

  20. But I don’t have the nerve to ask an actual artist to recreate the carwash scene from Cool Hand Luke with anthropomorphic fruit flies, and no artist will draw it for me on the condition that I watch a few commercials.

  21. Brings to mind the "Degenerate Art" exhibit put on by the Nazi's in 1937...and how "flopped" by attracting as much as 4 times the numbers of people that their classic art exhibit did.

  22. I used AI art on my Substack for a while, until a compassionate but principled friend reminded me that (1) artists need to live, too; and (2) AI-loads are an environmental catastrophe that doubled the amount of water usage in Texas.

  23. AI just tech acronym for plagerism. Everything fed into the AI super computers has evolved from the human brain. Acted, written, painted, built, engineered, spoken, played, developed, filmed, photographed..... and on and on.

  24. -It's a very useful tool and ability. But it's definitely not on the same level as getting personally created art. It's like somebody trying to fast track something to get to the easiest route.

If it was being used for stuff like playing the old RPG maker game I'd be ecstatic. Otherwise it's lazy 😅

  25. I'd much rather do both. Although what I mean by that, is that I'd actually prefer a genuine artist who uses AI as well and creating w/ their own imagination and skill.

I'm really starting to see the overabundance of folks using AI like they do drugs. Turning a good thing into something ugly.-

  26. Because nothing says AI more than I wrote this message in white ink and am displaying a black sharpie. I'm not saying it's AI, just saying that is the kind of mistake AI would make.

  27. This is why I've hired to students via the work study program to create art for the mythology class I teach. Art requires a human perspective and expression to be art. And when you're teaching something as central to culture as mythology, it's sicking to use AI generated images.

  28. Artists used to freak out about camera inventions, actors and playhouse 🎭 freaked out about movies, movie theaters freaked out about television, coachemen freaked out about the automobile. Eventually we all learned to live and like advancements in technology, I'm an artist and love working with AI.

  29. AI like "oh god he wants text..." FIRE UP THE METHANE GENERATORS ohh crap it's a lot of text!! BUILD A NEW COAL POWER PLANT there we go, whew, thought we were going to have a problem. Here's your image, boss!

  30. AI is like porn. I like it, but I should not. And I understand why I like it, and I understand why I should not. And here we are.

  31. ... And yes, the delicious irony is that AI was quite possibly used to make this image, using it against itself. That, or somebody made the composition un(intentionally).

  32. The evil will be when only 1,2,3 or 4 entities control ,like they do the Internet...then humanity is screwed.....bad humans do bad actions A I. will be as evil as the Internet and much much much worse. I can imagine such falsities that world wars will result from the false data.

  33. A I is this human invention that is two things:1:the most dangerous mind fuck ever- worse than nuclear;2:it is the most important mind process to this point in human history, why? A. I. is the only entity powerful enough and efficient to attenuate Americas financial economic model in one generation.

  34. the creator's name is literally on the piece and a simple google would have showed you that it's from a beloved cartoonist named Joe Wos @joetoon.bsky.social

before scolding people for not support artists, you should give it a shot yourself and idk - credit the artist.

  35. There are going to be a lot of suckers buying art. Then they will ask me to do an art appraisal on their bogus collections. Please don’t call me. Don’t email me. Don’t text me with your pathetic pictures. Thank you.

  36. You guys always say some thit like that, but when I ask for a painting of a drug addicted female fox creature thing with a big ass turning tricks behind a Sams club dumpster while the police watch on and masturbate over drone video, in HD I get "I'm really sorry, I'm too busy for your request "..

  37. If my son says "Dad, can you draw me a picture of a capybara eating Oreos on the beach?" and I Use AI for reference then draw it myself, am I a thief or a loser? A degenerate, certainly.

There are a wide array of applications and not everyone should be painted with the same brush.
