🧵 I think often about the Louisiana gubernatorial election of 1993. Louisiana historically has used an open primary system, (which the pundit class sneeringly calls a "jungle primary.") A non-partisan primary is held; if 1 gets >50%, they win. If all <50%, top 2 go on to a runoff. 1/x

I'm not against LLMs as an idea. Divorced from context, the fact that the existence of the internet as a massive dataset and computing power has allowed the creation of a simulacrum of intelligence or even sentience. That, in and of itself, is fascinating 1/3
