, of course, could be as edgy as <x/y> shippers liked, and <x/y> was still treated as plausible, even inevitable, but no way could <x/z> ever realistically be in the cards. b/c a little dose of betrayal or moral ambiguity has never spiced up any romance in the history of fiction, ever 🙄 -
I feel like a portion of it was also an attempt to moralize about us, "the shippers", too. Like the community needed us to know just how delusional we were being about this character, that we were all only "hysterical fangirls/guys" for seeing any good in him, unlike the Logical™️ lore fans, etc.

Ulf looks so good in these!! I’m so happy for dwarf players this month, these are amazing 💕
-
The bit where they talk about how they find it so interesting that some players see her as the hero of their story, how that fan perspective gives her that much more depth and stuff that they can work with in the narrative, just makes me want to throw up my hands. Like, come on.

I found the clip I was talking about: youtu.be/lvY166dUD7M?...
It's mildly infuriating listening to how everyone here gushes over Xal'atath while thinking about the lukewarm response to fan enthusiasm over the other character we're talking about, who is way less morally gray.
-
I'm also adding Xal'atath to my list of Actual WoW Villains who get less flack than this character. "Queen." "We stan." "Slay." I remember a host of WoWCast saying something like "She's so cool!" with hearts in her eyes while interviewing the developers about her, etc.

I'm so upset that they're putting exclusive hero skins behind this monstrosity 🥲
-
And yet here they are, with their degrading in-jokes slipping into the actual game itself. Meanwhile
keeps getting these nice, self-indulgent story lines about how incredibly special and important she is...which, fine, but this mmo doesn't exist in a bubble. -
..., about
being repeatedly hit in the face by rocks and stuff, that would not have been tolerated. It would've kicked up such a shitstorm on wowtwit. People would've been writing long threads about misogyny in fandom spaces, particularly shipping spaces. The devs would've said something.
