What happens when you cancel hundreds of cancer research grants, halt trials, freeze funding, lay off thousands of employees at FDA, NIH, CDC?
You don’t just hurt science. You hurt the people - patients waiting for hope. This isn’t just politics. It’s life or death for millions.
Attempting to eliminate funding for certain kinds of “woke” studies, the Trump administration erased hundreds of millions of dollars being used for cancer research.
Without the EPA’s internal science office, what fills the gap? Likely industry-funded studies, politicized science, and campaign-friendly claims. ORD was a firewall against all that.
Its removal weakens protections and invites manipulation from dishonest Trump cronies like Zeldin.
“This is a very baffling moment in time,” said one researcher. “I never would have thought we had to advocate for science.”

Good news:
The Senate rejected funding for RFK Jr.’s proposed MAHA agency, which aimed to restructure HHS.
Instead, the budget supports public health programs - like HIV prevention and community care - through existing agencies such as the CDC and HRSA.
Senators ignored RFK Jr.'s proposal to create a chronic disease agency called the Administration for a Healthy America.
We’ve been here before - political pressure, censorship, fear. But history shows: when we persist and speak up, science can survive. It’s our responsibility to take action now.
