I lived there in the 80's also while working in Massachusetts and attending Northeastern University. The poeple were warm, community minded and not a single right wing nationalist. True, they were conservative and liked small and efficient government.... which I certainly believe in too.

This makes lots of sense however, the current U.S. policies won't last. Most Americans recognize the value of a strong military and economic relationship with Europe. Once the present U.S. administration is over, I believe normal relations will resume.

It's sad when pointless wars kill the youth of nations regardless of who's truly to blame. I wouldn't be surprised to know that the young man really thought he was doing the right thing.
