People often mention Walghvogel, 'disgusting bird'. However, it's said that properly cooked breast or belly meat was good eating, so it was probably the cut. Their closest relative, the Rodrigues Solitaire, was also said to have good breast and belly meat, other cuts being poor. >>>

The meat of both has been described as 'light and fatty'. Both also had a diet consisting of nuts, grains, fruits, and insects. Two common meat birds have a very similar diet and flavor description: Chicken and Turkey.
