The hijacking of... American Cultural Mechanisms? The thing you outlined in Fantasyland. It doesn't get better, does it? Like we aren't even yet in the darkest hour of what will eventually, hopefully be called "The Pre-Truth Era". We won't be shaken awake by some mass-enlightenment. Feels doomy.

I saw that! I can't believe Richard Butler's voice is still as great as ever. Maybe even better than ever. And he is so spry, energetic, silly and funny. What a stage command. At 69. Damn. I'm now stuck with their latest album, Made of Rain, on repeat. Who knew? It is truly brilliant.

I'm exactly the same with this record. The celebratory refrains especially bring me home. "Sometimes when I look into your eyes I swear I can see your soul", after that twisted dark story? Gets me. Every. Time. Possibly Eno's greatest production work as well.
