Because it doesn't work well in 100° temps?
Slightly horrifying to see all the old brownstone windows ‘upgraded’ to single sheets of glass that definitely do not open :(
My home has no air conditioner. Windows, the hope of catching a cross breeze, the use of window fans and floor fans do a job of cooling. Not always cool but the air is real and 1/2 way comfortable and I feel less trapped.
Yeah we dont want the current administration with easier access to our kids
There's not really a need to point one in and one out. I put two facing out in different rooms and just open windows at the other end of the house; the breeze is noticeable and very effective. Same concept as a whole house fan. A bit useless until later in the evening—if it cools down.
See also: whole-house fans! I still remember my mother standing at the top of the stairs after turning ours on, eyes closed, hair drifting back in the fresh breeze. Now I do the same, 2000 miles from that house, in the evening after a hot day.
We use ours every night if outside is cooler than 70 to suck cool air into the house. It works amazingly well.
Love this!! I live in western NY. We, MAYBE, get 6 months where we can open our windows for FRESH AIR! I will NOT close my windows during spring and summer! I don’t have & I refuse AC. Yes, we’ve had 90° days when I think it would be nice, but nope! I use my ceiling & window fans & I’m fine!
