    The fact that no lawsuit has been commenced challenging these subpoenas in court is ominous. My best guess is that many of the providers have complied and now DOJ is potentially sitting on the records of thousands of trans youth covering everything from therapy notes to pre- and post-op photos.

    HIPAA explicitly allows the government to access medical files in "cases of security" which in practice means whenever they want 🤬 the care provider can choose to protect their patient in some cases but most won't risk it.
