  1. “What I’m reading just doesn’t go in”, what? Like I get if someone said they prefer print for aesthetic, comfort, or sentimental reasons, but that your reading comprehension depends on it? I adore ereaders. Books are cheaper, easier to access, and don’t occupy storage space, it’s great.

  2. and--idk quite how to articulate this--but the work of it is... critical to art-making. like you discover your intentions through the labor of expressing them. if I'd woken up at 17 with the technical ability to write a novel, i wouldn't have known what i was trying to say. the work IS the product.

  3. My experience as well, completely run over by bots. Unmistakably a Facebook experience, in all the worst ways. It was flawed from day one, and it only got worse.

Every time I poke my head back into Threads, I'm reminded why I stopped visiting. Three consecutive posts at the very top of my (permanently defaulted) FYP are all thirst spam, almost certainly bot accounts.

(that third one is in Filipino, but as far as I can tell the exact same sort of thing)

Screen cap of Threads.com "for you" feed.

  4. Felt this way watching “Smoke” on Apple TV+. Which didn’t grant me the mercy of a commercial break, but managed to offend me with each and every creative decision over the first 15 minutes.

But I’ll offset that with a show I really liked: The Diplomat (on Netflix).

  5. It will look like the draft’s biggest blunder if (when?) Prescott gets hurt. They had to know. Milton finished last year looking good, but against a Bills team that was actively trying to lose (to spoil the Pats’ from having the #1 pick). And it was a red flag that the Pats wanted him gone.

  6. Any state that does this is going to have its leadership forcibly deposed by federal armed forces, and if they’re not shot straight away they’ll be lynched for “treason” in pretty short order. As bad as things already are, they’d have to get a lot worse.
