Pliny the Elder, a 1st c. Roman scholar & author, recorded 32 medicinal uses for rose petals & leaves, including plasters, eye-salves, and rose wine. He claimed rose wine eased nervous tension, and sleeping on pillows filled with rose leaves could soothe the mind. #RoseWednesday
To open the curtains and see a young robin, its feathers dishevelled, its breast just turning that wonderful orangey-red colour, bobbity-bobbing across the lawn checking for grubs, has filled me with such joy. What #LittleJoys has nature shared with you first thing this morning?

They do love the phlox. I’ve also seen one visiting my red valerian (it’s the white variety though), as they seem to love that too 💕
