the recent matt y turn to “everyone who claims to care about anything is insincere” can probably be understood as cognitive dissonance. “good people doing good things annoy me online, therefore they’re bad” is not tenable. so he needs to invent a story in which they’re not actually good people
i think it’s good that groups organize historically mistreated and oppressed racial or sexual identity minorities in order to protect their rights and enhance their voting power
those are good things and those people should be celebrated, not sneered at
