Buttigieg has doubled down on his “leave the issue of trans kids in sports up to communities.”

To reiterate: This means leaving civil rights up to localities, abdicating the role of the federal government.

School districts controlled by Moms for Liberty extremists will be free to discriminate.

  1. It essentially amounts to democrats keeping the seat warm for republicans on trans rights so that they can simply continue the total destruction of their rights when they return to power.

  2. Buttigieg has triangulated himself into endorsing the “states’ rights” argument segregationists made, just wrapped in McKinsey speak.

Like, he acknowledges that trans folks are a tiny, vulnerable minority community. But then he proceeds to throw them to the wolves anyway.

“I see this issue being used to divide,” the former transportation secretary told independent journalist Aaron Parnas.

  4. Yes. Trans rights are human rights, not subject to whims & biases at the local level. Our kids need our nation to do better than that!

  5. This is basically a continuation of Biden policy, where trans people in red states were abandoned and left to the wolves

  6. He's happy with a little league coach in Lubbock getting to decide some vulnerable kid's worth.

I'm not. Those kids need to feel supported, not abandoned.

  7. how did that work with black people?

oh, it didn't. the feds had to intervene

  8. If we don’t throw people under the bus, we’ll never get into office to have the power to stop people from being thrown under the bus /s

  9. I would rather take every sports trophy ever won and throw it into a volcano than concede even an inch of ground on the human rights of an entire demographic and it's amazing to me that THIS is the goddamn line for so many people

  10. Like leaving desegregation up to communities where daughters of the confederacy control the school board.

Sure, the people Pete is trying to appease still think he's an abomination destined for hell but now he's tried to compromise like a good little centrist rat.

  11. The only reason some of these people worry about trans kids is that they don't want to accidently hit on one when they feel hot and bothered.

And that's what you tell the screechers.

  12. Remember back when the schools were desegregated and nine black students were prevented from entering the high school in Little Rock, Arkansas, by the national guard on orders by the governor, and President Eisenhower was like "Eh, I'm sure the local community will figure it out"?

  13. Sounds a lot like “states rights”

Anyone failing to see this is doing a disservice to themself and falling for old Fascist talking points

Obligatory “Fuck Buttigieg, he is a traitor to the Queer community”

  14. And Pete remains on my “hell no” list for Dem nomination. No candidate who is wrong on human rights will get any consideration from me for the nomination.

  15. He's just doing the "leave abortion up to the states" republican talking point but with trans people. I'm so tired of these McKinsey types.

  16. I think his motivation is rooted in the fact that MAGA has pulled these poor trans people into the spotlight as a distraction, and symbol of the vilification of the left. If we move the issues out of national politics, we deprive MAGA of the“something bright” that they’ve gotten good at weaponizing.

  17. Would y'all be happy in a fascist regime that allows trans athletes in sports?

There's no such thing, of course, but if you keep trying to base your political leanings on trans athletes' status and try to cancel our best fighters in the war for democracy you're gonna be there.

  18. Don't worry. Once everyone is done attacking each other over purity, and Trump consolidates power, none of these issues will be relevant.

There will simply be no LGBTQ+ people, or non-christians, or non-whites that are around to play sports.

    Fucking ridiculous.

  19. Pete is showing his true colors. He is an anti-trans bigot and I really worry about his biracial adopted twin children.
