TIL: The young-ish looking fellow in civilian clothes and top hat to the right in the Japanese delegation at the surrender ceremony was a diplomat in their foreign ministry named Kase Toshikazu.

Hardly ever go to pubs in central London because kids. Nostalgia for former FT haunt the Boot & Flogger in Borough. Nicest pub near home in Herne Hill is Half Moon, where Dylan Thomas used to drink. Once seriously rough (the attached former barred list is legendary), now v nicely restored Victorian.
