Was it the first rich-bastard-soap opera, or where there others before that? I mean, it feels like the first one to go properly HUGE and really lean into it. Everyone in it's larger than life. Nothing mundane here and all the better for it.

  1. We’d had a few, but not like Dallas. And Dallas had the Texas part as well as the money, so you have big business and oil and backstabbing, but you also have cowboy hats and steers and ranches and all that, so it ties, in a weird way, to Bonanza and High Chaparral and all those shows.
