This is why I am so adamant about the social construction of fascism and its ability to destroy the agreements and shared sensemaking that underpins democracy. Ultimately,no one matters except those deemed “real” by the group in power. Authoritarianism once in power deems who is real and who is not.
Yes, however it’s important point out that media will only permit treating the right’s complaints as valid. Literally everyone in DC is angry about this, but their voices don’t matter. Only 3 people that Chris Rufo hand picks matter, when it comes to what editors choose to cover.
May we all stop wasting time and energy indulging anyone - any institution, any pundit, any so-called expert - who insists on coming up with ways to obscure what is in front of them and call this something other than what it so evidently is.
One thing to “appreciate” about Trump himself, the Trumpist government, and the MAGA Right in general is that they couldn’t possibly be any more explicit about the grievance-fueled project of patriarchal white nationalist domination they are pursuing.
The White House’s official X account has a long thread in which they’ve posted pictures of people arrested during the feds’ occupation of the city. Every single person in the thread is a person of color.
ICE is stationed in front of a DC public school and seizing people.
We cannot have memories of goldfish. Newsom has been a bad-faith actor time and time again.
Absolutely do not trust him.
At best, he's an opportunist. As @sarahkendzior.bsky.social has pointed out repeatedly, his connections and entanglements make him VERY suspect.

Costco is a great company at a time where very few of the fortune 500 companies can be trusted. Costco pays for part-time benefits, it is way more progressive than most companies. The CEO has hosted many Democratic fundraisers for Obama, Hillary, Kamala and others. Let’s not take the bait. 🤷🏻♀️

The prevailing cultural attitude for years is you must not, under any circumstances, treat anything as bad faith. You are obligated to find some reasonable idea and engage with that, even if you distort to get there.
