Woke has just become a knee jerk criticism for some people at this point, even a borderline slur they like.

Tier 5 gear is not insane.
The bonuses for weapons are negligible, and a tier 2 with the right perks will do you just fine.
Armor is a bit different, because each tier has higher max stats up to T4. T5 only has a tuning mod slot over T4, which you can live without.

That's the opposite of what they're doing.
They're tweaking things to make the most rewarding activities less rewarding in an attempt to increase diversity.
If they were actually making other activities more reward the response would be entirely different.
