Zeller Schwarze Katz (Black Cat) is a German vineyard region near Zell/Mosel. Legend says in 1863, when Aachen wine merchants couldn't choose between three barrels of winemaker Peter Anton, a black cat jumped on one and defended it fiercely. They bought that barrel.

Taxes on Wine in the EU, the UK, and the U.S., August 2025. Finland, Ireland, and the UK impose the highest taxes on still wine, while Portugal, Luxembourg, and U.S. cities are at the low end. Similarly, Ireland imposes the highest taxes on sparkling wine, while New York City has the lowest.

Monthly U.S. Wine Trade Balance, Jan 2023-Jun 2025. In June 2025, wine exports declined while wine imports grew. As a result, the wine trade deficit grew to -US$500 million; that is 13% more than in June 2024 and 15% more than in May 2025.

Josep María Sert (Spanish, 1874-1945) El Vendedor De Vino (The Wine Seller), 1923. Sert was a Spanish muralist whi paited in churches and cathedrals in Spain. He also painted a mural at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, at 30 Rockefeller Center, and at the League of Nations in Geneva.
