I feel for the Guard. These are patriotic Americans, many who are Veterans, who are forced to perform this nasty, partisan chore for Trump; they don't have a choice of deployment. I doubt that many are happy to be there.

@newsnation.bsky.social I watched Elizabeth Vargas a week+ ago state that the Steele Dossier was "bogus." Raw intel is not "bogus." Some claims were verified, some were not (but not disproven). I was surprised that Vargas, who prides herself on impartiality, would echo Trump & Russian propaganda.

To think peace at this point is possible is illusory. #Putin wants all of #Ukraine and is just playing Trump. Neither Putin nor Trump can be trusted. It's a waste of time and energy for European leaders to work on a peace agreement with Russia and the US, but I guess they have to pretend otherwise.

.@joe-scarborough.bsky.social Don't overlook the most serious implications of Trump's federalizing the Nat'l Guard in DC. DC is special and there's no limit to the harm he could unleash on all three branches of gov't, e.g., ordering the Guard to block the convening of Congress to (say) impeach him.

Yeah, Putin is Trump's mentor. If the economy goes south, the GOP loses the the House in a fair 2026 election. Without a GOP House, oversight resumes and Trump is likely impeached again. A GOP House may be existential for the Trump Presidency. Expect Trump to resort to anything to keep the House.
