Ultimately it’s a negotiation tactic to make the NWSL cave. Losing her to the WSL is explainable, but losing your star player to a USL team? Total embarrassment for the league office.

Trin is probably making ~$350K now. Only a few players making well above $500K/yr in the world (Kerr, Bonmatí, Putellas) with the max probably around $1m. So let’s say DC Power are offering $750K for a 1-year contract? Not a big number for a Kang. Why not call Power up and say she’ll pay her salary?

DC Power of the Gainbridge Super League have extended an offer for free agent Trinity Rodman that the NWSL can't currently match due to the salary cap.
