Today is National Lighthouse Day. We have visited many of them, but the one at Cape Disappointment is the saddest looking one I have seen. First lit in 1856, it is the oldest lighthouse in Washington. I hope it will be restored one day. #Lighthouse #PNW #CapeDisappointment

the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse in the PNW. it is in dire need of restoration. we visited on a very dreary day in 2022. there is a building with antennas on the roof to the right and bare trees on the left.

Interesting.... I never paid any attention to the lighthouse when we camped there, but my positive impression came from the beautiful sunset we caught that night down on the beach. It's one of my favorite images that's pinned at the top of my home page!
