Amateur photographer, Pacific NW scenes, some birds and other critters, nature, bits of travel; camera handy, wherever, whenever.

Catching moments with my lens.

  1. Here's one when we anxiously watched the wildfire getting closer and we had the go-bags packed. The smoke heading out to sea told the story and turned the sun a glowing red. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekFforFire

A view from the beach with a huge seastack as smoke from a nearby wildfire drifts west out to sea. The smoke is an ominous dark gray with the red, glowing sun barely peeking through the dense smoke. A large bird oddly looks to be flying toward the sun... or more likely trying to get out ahead of the thick smoke. Farther out toward the sea, the sky still shows a pale shade of sun at the horizon with some blue above it before it is snuffed by the heavy smoke layer. One of the more eerie sights I've ever experienced. It didn't smell really nice either.

  2. I must say I do miss the days when I could look out and see the skies showing promise and head out at the drop of a hat to catch a sunset like this one....... #sunset #seascape #eastcoastkin

Catching the brilliant colors of a spectacular sunset just after the sun dropped out of sight. It's not easy to describe the variation of the golden hour hues as the smooth ocean picks up the many shades of reflected blue and red as the horizon turns a deep shade of crimson. The sky above still retains a hint of blue mixed with the red glow from the sinking sun. This is the phenomenon that kept me going back again and again to experience this amazing light show....

  3. Interesting.... I never paid any attention to the lighthouse when we camped there, but my positive impression came from the beautiful sunset we caught that night down on the beach. It's one of my favorite images that's pinned at the top of my home page!
