(A note on the coloring: the B&W was shaded for skintone that's supposed to be in the ballpark with America Ferrera or Eva Longoria. So, unlike with smaller pics, this time I had to brighten the airbrushing so she didn't end up looking more like Chiana from Farscape. Interesting lesson!)

(Was also originally planning to superimpose a blurry foreground gun silhouette, presumably held by a rioter, but didn't want to block out the work. I keep finding things I didn't do well enough but I'm still so skrakking proud of it.)

(I have literally never drawn anything at this level before. I considered posting just the pencil bc I was so apprehensive about coloring it. Hope it worked ok.)

"If you try to create justice through civility and comity and politeness with justice, you create a counterfeit of justice."
Or, the reason so many Kids These Days aren't being drilled on manners when accommodation and restorative justice are right there.
This week I dug deep into the Paradox of Tolerance.
We might hope still to build a new house to replace the one abusive bullies are burning down, after centuries of decades of being enabled in the name of civility.
If we do, the new house will need new locks.

I think this originated from an oversimplification of ideas in BRAINSTORM (Siegel 2014). Got a free pre-market copy of from my kid's psychiatrist in like 2017, picked it up in 2022 and nearly threw it at the wall. He was trying to explain teens, and now everybody's dissing young adults.
i am begging everyone to stop repeating the myth that brains are underdeveloped until 25

I was expecting mom guilt, maybe disability-parent guilt, but jeez... This is gonna be one [hooting] difficult mess to navigate. OTOH she did materialize with that mug...

25 years after my biggest brush with SF gatekeeping and we're still basically on the "living writers don't measure up to dead men" train? Good grief. If you're going to be beating this horsemeat, at least make it look like you're not saying "we should never have let women in to show us up."

Yes, that's the official position of most US medical organizations too. But there's some concern that the lower end of the higher-risk age range may be getting lower, especially after a COVID bout. And the data on that is going to have to be from outside the US, so the orgs here may not listen.
