We can’t afford to abandon the goal just because it’s difficult or not immediately viable.
And it isn’t to say that my others solutions aren’t “impeach, convict, remove, arrest.”
Many things that need to be done.

Yep, I used the term to infer yesteryear, as many of us were screaming for these to happen when we had the chance.
Nevertheless, expanding the Court & enforcing term limits aren’t things done compulsively. They require political control, a strong mandate, & a public groundswell.

In a nutshell:
Citizens United is neither the builder of the ballroom, nor the strict authority to do so; but it did build the system that makes corrupt priorities inevitable.
Until the ruling is reversed, that rot spreads like a brazen wildfire.

2/ Citizens United paved the path for this type of private influence to override public interest, where oligarchs can flood our political system w/ dark money, shape policy, & corrupt the very core of our democratic institutions.
The ballroom is just another glaring symptom of that systemic rot.

1/ Absolutely not a dumb Q, at all! You’re correct in that he shouldn’t be able to, as the WH is a national historic landmark, but we’ve all had front row seats as to how norms and laws are being broken and loopholed out of existence.

So, while major alterations to public properties would normally require approval from preservation authorities & Congress should “hold the purse,” it’s been made clear that laws are only as strong as their enforcement.
Citizens United remains the rot at the core of this rapidly growing disease.

The corrupt priorities we are seeing, like lavish ballrooms over public good, are symptoms of the systemic disease of unfettered “donations.”
