Howard Lutnick on CNBC indicates that the Trump administration will try to partially nationalize defense companies like Lockheed Martin

  1. What is the name of the system of government when the state owns the means of production? The name seems to evade me but I thought it was the boogey man for all Republicans. I guess until they controlled production...

Oh yeah Communism. The name is Communism.

  2. I keep waiting for someone, anyone to step up & do something about this fascist takeover, & it’s never going to happen

I’m making my peace with needing to move out of the U.S.

I can’t take it that my fellow Americans seem to either just support fascism, or not care enough to do anything about it

  3. When people are on this app and on television saying what this Republican administration is doing is a “distraction” cause the policies and whatnot are horrible, this is what the distraction is hiding.

  4. Given the current president and his propensity for blackmailing and whining about the 51st state, this is one more argument in favor of Canada cancelling its Lockheed-Martin contract and going for a more reliable supplier.

  5. Lockheed Martin received approximately $56.9 billion in revenue from U.S. government contracts in 2024

  6. Isn’t that like some kind of socialism or communism or something like that?🤷🏽

  7. I've predicted it before, and I'll double down here. With the loss of qualified STEM and QA/regulatory folks in federal agencies, the US is about to lose its entire military advantage, as logistics and supply rapidly deteriorates.

That's on top of intelligent military leadership being decapitated.

  8. As a non usa person, this will ironically make the world safer, cos none of the shit you'll make will work. Thank you and suck shit.

  9. The man is a fool. Nationalising defence firms is how Russian defence tech became a laughable joke under Putin instead of a harsh competition that threw up major new threats to NATO hardware every few years.

  10. They cannot decide what kind of government they want to be. Authoritarian, communist, socialist, kleptocracy, kakistocracy, oligarchy. Maybe a blend of all of them. Missing from those choices; a representative democracy based upon a written Constitution. They have no intention of governing that way🙄

  11. Can he say socialism? They cried about how horrible it is, but now they think it's best for the country. I can't find enough words that show how horrible they are. Not enough words in the thesaurus for it.

  12. Never mind the financing. Wait til Trump starts demanding Def contractors make weapons designed by Trump. You know, he's smarter than weapons engineers! He'll whip up a Sharpie drawing of an impossible weapon, demand they make it, fire anyone who opposes him. Good times!

  13. Who voted for this inept piece of shit? Does this man have any positive attributes~~

  14. I feel so much better now. Discussions about how to finance the US military is in the hands of a guy who bankrupted six companies, including a casino, and another stable genius at Secretary of defense. And who was the other numbnut he mentioned? We're fucking doomed.

  15. This comes at the same time as Trump tries to fire, without legal authority, US Federal Reserve Governor Cook.

It isn't far-fetched to imagine that he will threaten to fire the CEO of the companies he acquires if they do not perform according to his wishes.

  16. It’s a battle to get corporations to pay tax, If Dems ever get back into power they will inherit a dividend stream to help fund social programs. Find a way to wedge the Republicans on this, get them to pledge they will never vote to undo this legacy.

  17. So, they're opting to go full fash. Trump must be in bad shape. I didn't expect things to speed up like this.

  18. I almost worked for Lockheed Martin once. I had no idea what they did. I thought it had something to do with child support payments lol. Needless to say I didn’t get the job

  19. Is this what they did in Russia? If the nation is owned by a few crooked billionaires, then isn’t nationalization really privitization? Honestly asking. Does this facilitate the transfer of wealth away from the country and into the hands of the crooks?

  20. So, nutlick, are individuals in government then banned from owning these stocks that the government as an entity functionally controls?

  21. Partially nationalize means “take his 10% cut” or “kickback” or “bribe” or whatever you want to call this grift. And that’s just what they’re willing to disclose publicly. You can bet more funny business will be happening behind the scenes.

  22. There's a very important company waiting to be taken over that's sending rockets to space....

  23. Well, in L-M's case let's admit that their only customer is the USG and there is no way that the government could ever allow them to fail.

They are already the biggest (by far) of the shrinking group of defense contractors who have gobbled up their smaller competitors.

  24. is this supposed to be our cue to give a crap about lockheed martin? or is it the implication that he might give secrets to the russians?

    good luck to u

    @dmc73.bsky.social

Then why would any other country want to buy aircraft or anything else from them? And then the US government under this admin would expect Lockheed to give them a discount or build the stuff for free.

  26. And what will those companies have to say about that? Will the CEO's go hooray (doubt it) or say go f*ck yourself (most likely)?

DEMS TAKE NOTE: TRUMP IS ANTI-CAPITALISM!

  27. BTW a big reason the soviet union failed was that all the companies were nationalized and tied to the failure of the idiots in charge of the country.

  28. Nutlick was Epstein’s neighbor in NYC for 10 years, also had some shady real estate deals with him too. Likely money laundering, just like when Trump bought a Palm Beach property for 40 million and sold it to a Russian for over 100 million, much more than the property was worth. MONEY LAUNDERING!

  29. Every Congress member who voted for these authoritarian communists needs to be removed next year, so we can then remove these criminals asap.

    🤦‍♀️

  30. And gullible corporation leaders and smaller business leaders supported this asshole. They cheer as Trump deregulates and weakens labor laws, only to be pressed for bribes to avoid tariffs and now will be forced to relinquish parts of their businesses to Trump.

I hope these companies enjoy the permanence of their actions. It is a slim likelihood that this is short lived.

  33. The Trump regime plans to extort more private companies by partially nationalizing them.

    Fascism in action.

  34. So they’re leaving it to us to just figure that whatever it is they want to steal or destroy or control deserves it because it’s “woke”?

    0
  35. I had never contemplated that the way the federal government would look to pay down the debt would be to start illegitimately stealing equity value from legal and rightful owners rather than just by raising legitimate taxes.

    1
  36. This is the way Putin siphoned off trillions. Trump will continue nationalize US companies and some of the money that’s supposed to go to the government will find its way into his pockets. As will some of the fines he levies, some of the tariffs, etc. When you’re a dictator, they let you do it.

  37. Fascism is now proud and bragging about fascism. These are the things that used to get you arrested, and they brag about them every day.
