A neurotic fear of death that drowns out daily life is unhealthy in the exact same way that any other irrational hyperfocus on potential danger is.
It's not a good idea for me to focus on the prospect of cancer until I freak out, but it doesn't mean it's bad for me to seek cures for cancer.
