I still use some German words I heard as a kid. I don’t speak German though.

True. I think some of them need someone to hate. Their go-to, feel-good emotion is hate. So once they lock in on a group to hate, they can’t let go. They need that hatred feeling.

When I was a kid, I had bad dreams about the Holocaust. I still feel strong horror about it. The Nazi regime. I make comparisons here between the brown shirts thugs and what ICE is doing to people. ICE is a bunch of thugs. This has happened before. And the detainment camps here terrify me.

I always pronounced cicada as sih-kah-dah. When I moved to Texas, people rudely told me it’s pronounced cikayda. I knew I was pronouncing it the way I learned it. Then I realized I wasn’t saying sih. I was saying a German z. I looked up the word. I had learned the German word, Zicade. 🙂
