This is just getting ridiculous. Nothing that has happened (or is reported below the headline to have happened) this weekend remotely justifies talk of an explosion or mass protests. The media are confecting a crisis, and, in some sections of it, hoping to provoke one. 1/3

  1. It is the reverse of what they did for climate and nature protests. The UK media must be properly regulated. They are continuously lying about Net Zero then invisibly correcting days later IPSO is useless. It s blatant propaganda on behalf of polluting oil and gas giants.

  3. Have hated the Mail for decades, it was the newspaper my father read. When the Independent came along I made it the newspaper of the house. Sadly it never dimmed my father's casual racism.

The Fail has a lot to answer for in perpetuating the UK's scilly racist core.

  4. A few tattooed, flag-shagging thumbs gobbing off gets the press wetting their panties with excitement. Hundreds of thousand protesting Gaza gets virtually no coverage and calls for them all to be imprisoned.

  5. The anti protests were bigger the rhetoric from the media isn’t surprising as the money men behind it are pushing the immigrant/racism card!

  6. There is an immigration, misinformation tsunami on every news channel & in every newspaper in the UK atm. I lived through the racism of the 70's, 80's and early 90's from the NF, BNP & football-hooligans. This feels more sinister. Our media happily propagating damaging xenophobia is not helping us.

  7. Depressingly, lots of people will go out tomorrow and pay money for the Mail. The lack of critical thinking skills and the unwavering trust they place in the Mail to provided their daily input of fear is not something I’ll ever understand.

  8. The byline for this 'story' is two trainee reporters, the headline probably written last week before whoever the editor is buggered off for Bank Holiday weekend. Yellow journalism at its finest.

  9. Those “media” rags are complicit in fanning the flames of bigotry. The sooner they have to start printing the plain facts, without inflammatory rhetoric, the better.

  10. Asylum-seeking is a global phenomenon, with 8.4M AS in 2024 of whom 110K sought AS in the UK & 32K are currently housed in over 200 hotels dispersed around the country. There are issues about that, including for ASs themselves, but the attempt to turn it into a national crisis is a disgrace. 2/3

  11. One has to wonder at what point false reporting to encourage violence becomes sedition. When do England’s foreign-owned nationalist newspapers become enemies of England? What is the point of nationalism that is actually the enemy of the worshipped nation?

  12. There was mode mass inbthe counfer protesters. The Mail / Express don't do head counts. Their reporters must WFH when writing this stuff.

  13. It is wholly irresponsible and the coverage has been obscenely one sided. From what I gather, counter protesters have consistently outnumbered any of the ingrates that have protested. It has. objectively, been demonstrated to be a failure. Good.

  14. What else do you expect from that racist, xenophobic and anti-LGBTQ+ lying evil bigoted rag? Like the s6n and xpress it’s always trying to incite evil against individuals or groups, whole of Murdoch media shoulda been shut down years ago

  15. The use of language too: “furious families” as opposed to the “fighting age men” housed in the hotels.

  16. Whatever now? A shit-stirring, rabble-rousing, inaccurate headline from the Daily Mail aimed to exacerbate civil disobedience? Well I never.

  17. They need to be railed in don’t they… There has to be some degree of responsibility and accountability for the press. They just make stuff up… that can’t be allowed to carry on.
