Amazing life & talent. Thanks to people like him, there was a different sort of education in the 60s & 70s; noticeable when I look at my parents and my kids. Just lucky. I was looking for his books and up came 'Debunking Howard Zinn' ... there had to be!

Over here we have empire apologists. Goes something like "We gave them a legal system, democracy, the English language ... and railways". They fail to mention it was all so they could argue contracts in UK courts, communicate easily and move stolen gear quickly. Democracy was very 'limited', too.

Churchill was the main beneficiary of WW2, as it cleaned his slate of all the horrendous errors he made in just about every position he held. He is proof that even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I suspect there's a lot of things they don't know. History is written by the victors and all that. I thought the same; plucky American farmers take on Brits, until I looked into it
