  1. I'm all for it, but Dems have to a message that resonates with rural people. That means they have understand rural lifestyles. For example, you can't tell a voter in a place like Woodward, OK that he's going to need to ride a bicycle and take a train. Understand and then just talk to them.

Scoop: Jaime Harrison is launching what he calls a 7-figure battle plan to boost Dems in rural areas in 2026 races. His working theory is this cycle will be like 2006, when Dems won in red places. His targets, plus an early ad he has hitting Nancy Mace đź‘€

  2. Tonight on Ken Burns's American Revolution, Rick Atkinson is going is going to tell you:

"Muskets are mostly inaccurate beyond 80 yards...so a lot of the killing is done with the bayonet... this is really eyeball to eyeball."

The trouble is, this just isn't true. 🧵1/16

  3. Is there a source for te number for the Napoleonic wars? I have a sense that artillery tactics, and to some extent the guns themselves improved from 1780 1800. Curious if that would have moved it. Also ACW when I assume the ranges were MUCH longer?

  4. My fave Abraham Lincoln Brigade member has to have been the New Hampshire dude who, when asked by a reporter why he was in Spain, said that he’d heard the Republicans were in trouble and as a lifelong republican came to help.

Apparently he accepted his mistake and stayed to fight

  5. This is awesome. Would love to do something similar for the US Army

Have a friend who liked to take people on tours of Arlington and bring them to a highly decorated WWII soldier’s grave, then watch their astonishment on finding out the soldier fought gasp with the communists in the 1930s

#ChurchillsSpaniards “We have the duty to tell the story of these soldiers & preserve their memory...this book isn’t only about Spanish fighters (against fascism), but...a part of the tradition, history & culture of the British army.” Out in paperback! #ContinuingtheFight
