  1. A few weeks earlier we went similarly to Aberystwyth for the day. This used more electricity, closer to £2 each way (108 miles x 2) because it was so hot we ran the aircon.

Battery cars are cheap motoring. Of course people will use them more than fossil fuel cars!

  2. Last week we travelled 110 miles each way to Cardiff Castle for a day out. The marginal cost was ~1.7p per mile for electric or £1.88 each way. Less than my coffee in the cafe, for the return trip. We took a pack up, wet gear (unused) and shopped, returning to the car boot repeatedly. Happy days

  3. What do you conclude Prof?

It seems obvious to me that if the cost of travel falls more will happen. Further, less flexible modes like bus, train, cycling and walking can optionally be displaced by the convenience of a battery car too. It's not perfect but it beats fossil fuel pollution!

  4. Another aporistic query!

Less than 0.005% of UK taxpayers are billionaires. They are rare even in the top 1%. The challenge is to find a fraction they will accept paying and that will work for the other 99.995% too.

£20,000,000 pa, per billion is pretty definitely paying their way in my mind.
