Assistant Professor in International Relations at the University of Sussex (own views, obviously). Interested in British (and Western) foreign relations in the Middle East and elsewhere, and how they're shaped by legacies of colonialism.

  1. Our esteemed expert here appears to have gone from just innocently asking (in 2018) “Is Rising Ethnic Diversity a Threat to the West?” to answering (in 2025) that yes, the degenerate races pose an terrible threat to the herrenvolk and should be driven out en masse.

Its not 'a grift'. Its who he is.

  2. Goodwin may not be a literal Nazi, but Nazism is not hermetically sealed off from the wider spectrum of racialising discourse and racist thinking. It is long past time - in 2025, with fascism on the rise everywhere - to illuminate the present by drawing more of these connections.

  3. As @francesryan.bsky.social notes in this excellent article, "What we are seeing is in many ways an extension of the centuries-old racial prejudice that ethnic minorities are a sexual threat to white females (and the white males who claim possession of them)."

The narrative that they are a threat to women and girls has no basis in fact, but bad actors peddle it, and ministers encourage them, says Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

As asylum seekers are engulfed by slurs and lies, our leaders shrug. Truly, this is shameful | Frances Ryan

  5. You can waste 4 years finger wagging at progressives about how they should vote in 2029. Or you can recognise where the responsibility actually lies, and pressure the government to be a government that doesn't aggressively alienate millions of progressive voters with objectively terrible policies.

idk man, if you're telling people they HAVE to vote for the candidate who supports a genocide and will willingly throw trans people under the bus then I don't really care that you "don't like it either!" coz you're still voting for the thing and insisting everyone else does too. Own it.

  7. Here we have the quintessence of the Legitimate Concerns discourse. They may despise you, but you have to like them. Their racism & xenophobia is an agonised cri du coeur deserving of endless sympathy. Your opposition to their prejudices merits no sympathy or support.

  8. Whining about crime is super effective for right wing politicians because there's never going to be zero crime, so it's a good way to constantly sell total bullshit to the two dumbest groups of people in the world: republican voters and the entire media
