The Trump people are such pathetic crooks. I guess the word from the boss is that they are free to use the government in any way that makes them richer or makes their lives more comfortable.

side note, I'm old enough that "Eurosclerosis" (insider/outsider labor markets, high youth unemployment) was a regular part of macro discourse when I was in college & grad school.

It's unfortunately very normal for youngsters to experience deteriorating labor market outcomes relative to prime working age folks when the labor market starts cooling... even prior to any recession.
Not unique to 2023-25.
(Also, this is not a recession forecast.)

I am trying to tease out how many manufacturing jobs were lost to off-shoring vs productivity increases in the 00's. Unfortunately we only have sectorized GDP data from 2005 on.
