It's extremely important for 40k fans to read literally anything other than 40k, because that's how you get shit like this - 40k fans read about a bolter and go, "Waow!! so overpowered!" and don't realize that it's like, easily the shittiest sci-fi firearm ever invented, easily outclassed by this
I argue that the Imperium wins not because they out class other universes, they out stupid them.
I mean this is a universe who made millions of post human super soldiers and then deployed them like cannon fodder for two hundred years to conquer the galaxy.
Power scalling is a nightmare within 40k itself let alone clashing with things outside of it

In 40k they use candles to light rooms. They still use candles. Not as symbols, but for literal practical reasons - to provide light.
I find I'm too literal to do direct comparisons (as in what happens when a lance battery hits a federation ship's shields? We don't know) but with phasers the kill setting in TOS through to Voyager is very different from Discovery and SNW. The former evaporates a marine the latter I'm not so sure
