my honest reaction to most
I find I'm too literal to do direct comparisons (as in what happens when a lance battery hits a federation ship's shields? We don't know) but with phasers the kill setting in TOS through to Voyager is very different from Discovery and SNW. The former evaporates a marine the latter I'm not so sure

Weapon effectiveness cannot be compared cos there's no constant point of reference. But there is the speed of light. One faction travels way beyond speed of light. And the other cannot. That's all there is to it.
