I think there is some value in pursuing the Danish system. Public opinion has clearly shifted against asylum seekers. Easy to blame the right, but working classes are pissed off about house/rent prices, the struggling NHS. There's a general feeling we can't cope with the population we have...

Also I think this may actually be quite popular with the traditional Labour working class - many of whom have gone to reform. It will be seen as shameful by the inner city liberal middle class though.
