Oh, I should probably add that half the house is still off because with a multi wire branch circuit, you share a neutral with two circuits.
Miswiring that means you might require a visit from the fire department as you can potentially overload the neutral. Real asshole stuff here.
At some point I’m going to need to take the time to read more about the abundance stuff because while I have a very cursory understanding, it’s not nearly enough to have a formed opinion.
Suffice it to say, the opinions on it on Bluesky are NOT positive so I’m not expecting to learn much lol
I took pictures before I disassembled but like, now I’m not confident they were adequate to fully reassemble.
My wife, OTOH, is a damn saint. Half the house doesn’t work right now and she’s been really patient. I love her.
This is a love story, I forgot to mention that.
So now I’m in a real fuckin pickle because I stupidly assumed it was a standard 3-way and had three cables coming into the box for the 3-way and two for the switched outlets in the room.
No, apparently at LEAST one of those extras is a separate cable to the kitchen & dining lights & garage opener
Turns out the builders saved money (and in my opinion cut corners) by using a multi wire branch circuit. Apparently legal per code, but they used 12/3 romex with the red and black on two separate circuits.
This way they didn’t have to run two cables across the house. Real vulgar stuff IMO.
So last night I finally had a spare 15 minutes with the kid asleep and I could finally install a new smart switch and companion switch to replace an old three-way switch.
Two hours later I had the entire two-gang jbox apart and every wire had been detached because the wiring didn’t make sense.
Not to mention the whole “abolish home ownership” nonsense. You want to lose 100,000,000 voters almost overnight and for a couple generations? Tell them home ownership is dead.
Real big-brained stuff there. My god.
I imagine you lose basically all of upper middle class and to some extent the middle class over this platform position.
Even my grandfather left his kids a modest amount each and he was a blue collar machine operator. I imagine that token value is enough to righteously piss off the avg MC voter
This isn’t the same thing as a legitimate restructuring or merger where positions are actually eliminated
The recessionary layoffs are like throwing sailors off a sinking ship to lighten the load. You could just use them to bail water or fix the hole.
Restructuring is like building a smaller boat.
Instead, in order to temporarily preserve stock price they use layoffs. The stock price would have recovered eventually and perhaps been higher because of captured gains.
Anyways, layoffs are the sign a company with leadership who can’t see past their next quarterly options package.
