Besides his obliviousness to the age issue, he totally misses that parents entrust teachers to care for their children while in the school’s custody. I don’t care if a student is 18 or 19, as long as the teacher - student relationship exists any other kind of relationship is unethical.

Exactly what I’ve always felt about this song ( and it’s a great ballad). He’s a loser who isn’t able to pull back And see the bigger issues . Just his own family’s misfortunes and suffering. His feeling are real and his perspective is wrong.
