  1. Point taken, but there's also a point about what's suitable for display from a private space (and also from some public/govt buildings) not being so good plastered all over public spaces,(Sunder implies this). We also have a long way to go before everyone in England sees ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง and esp ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ as 'ours'...

  2. I have seen huge numbers of Palestinian solidarity flags in Birmingham - in people's windows or elsewhere on their property, mostly. That's fine. I have hung ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ&๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ flags from my balcony. Attaching stuff to street furniture or spray painting public places - not so good, councils are right to remove it.

  3. This breaks my heart. Translating was the only dayjob work I've ever done that I actually enjoyed, but I had to stop because I couldn't make a living from it. Easily the most underappreciated and underpaid profession on earth.

Since 2023, translators and interpreters have seen work dry up, rates plummet and their jobs reduced to editing AI-generated output. Some are leaving the field, others are considering bankruptcy. All despite any major upgrade in translation quality.

This is how AI is killing translation work:

Few industries have been hit by AI as hard as translation. Rates are plummeting. Work is drying up. Translators are considering abandoning the field, or bankruptcy. These are their stories.

  4. The late Marc Ellis, in the US, described 'Judeo-Christian' as an 'ecumenical deal': Christians agree not to criticise Jewish support for Israel and its oppression of the Palestinians, Jews agree not to criticise the Christians for their failure to address adequately their historic antisemitism...

  5. I see that those complaining 10 years ago that there were too many Europeans coming to the UK and that we therefore needed to leave the EU are now saying that there are too many non-Europeans coming to the UK.

  6. So that's three jumpers with nothing to wear under them except the fourth top, so that's one day, two items burned already, I mean what are we doing here? I'd also suggest packing at least one item of footwear that isn't really ugly

  7. Just your usual reminder that under no circumstances should GB News have a broadcast licence in the UK. The fact that they do is evidence of pathetic supine weakness on the part of the state. bylinetimes.com/2025/08/21/o...
