If SoP is the justification then why do we have any half-assed combined bike/car infrastructure? The safe way is to build fully separated and maintained cycling infrastructure.

I've said this for decades. The problem that the US has with the Islamic dictatorships isn't that they "hate freedom", eat bald eagles, have shitty human rights records, etc.
