Yes, so much of teaching US politics now requires the framing of what empirically is democracy, why is democracy normatively good for people, and are these things that are happening more consistent with democracy or one of these other forms of govt? Totally different world than 15 yrs ago.

TBF, as someone who was born and raised in NE Ohio, it is a lot denser than most people think. That is why Ohio has a lot of EC votes and also is the birthplace of a decent chunk of presidents.
