I'm officially out of a job--they eliminated mine, and I'm taking severance instead of a wildly different title they offered me that's not at all what I was hired to do. Solidarity forever 🌺, and while I take a breather someone come up with some good ideas of work I could do.

  1. This sucks and I am so sorry. Your work at Eater has been brilliant, as it’s been everywhere else and as I’m sure it’ll be at the next place smart enough to hire you.

  2. Websites that fire their best writers tend to go downhill pretty quickly. It's a shame they don't know how lucky they were to have you.

  5. This is my 4th attempt at trying to put into words how angry I am. This makes no sense whatsoever. You're an incredible writer. I get so excited when you post a new piece. I'm so sorry for you and your colleagues, and I hope that someone with some cash offers you something fantastic.

  7. Thank you everyone for the amazing messages. I also just wanna say that being a shop steward and organizing with @voxmediaunion.bsky.social has really been the honor of my career. It's only getting harder, but we have to keep the labor movement alive in digital media.

  8. So sorry to hear. Have been a huge fan of your work on the intersection of immigration & restaurants. And in general, a huge Eater fan -- how will I know where to eat on vacation? Or even at home?

  9. This sucks! Eater has been such a magnet for talent, and I've always loved your pieces. Incredibly frustrating for readers to see one after another beloved outlet self-sabotaging, and this one is a real blow
