  1. I think the left/right/liberal/centrist distinction is a lot less useful at this point than the "wants to be an adult member of society" vs "fuck you mom" divide.

Take: the Leo Frank stuff is a much worse acceleration of left-wing people on Twitter deciding that the word “r-tard” was an acceptable statement to call someone again. There’s a bizarre belief that acting like a neo-Nazi or an alt-righter is liberating in some way way.

  2. Its literally the midwit meme where at first knowing little its just slavery and then you learn all of the different strains of causes, the economic, political, and social distinctions and then you keep learning and figure out all those differences existed to support slavery

I remember Texas hs in the 90s being pretty focused on apologia about Texas not really being that dependent on slavery and an implication that saying slavery was the cause of the civil war was kind of the dumb kid answer.

  3. I want a presidential candidate who promises to construct Union memorials and statues all over the country.

And yeah, North and South. Blanket Virginia with statues of Thomas, who actually chose the right side.

Hell, put one of Sherman in the middle of Peachtree Park.

  5. American chattel slavery was like, one of the worst things humanity has ever invented

There's a reason Lincoln said that there was basically no limit on how much punishment a just and righteous god might inflict for it

  7. If I was a congressman, and my chief of staff married a Republican chief of staff, I would literally fire them on the spot

GOP chief of staff for Walberg (MI-05) marries DEM chief or staff for Dingell (MI-06)

  8. what Americans seem to want is to be able to buy whatever product they want without government interference but also an ironclad guarantee that all store-sold products are safe, and we just need to recognize that these are contradictory ideas and we're gonna have to make people mad about the former

bsky folks are saying this woman made a bad decision and obviously she did but the dairy is selling a self-refutingly irresponsible product -- they label the raw milk "not for human consumption" and sell it in milk bottles at health food stores for people to buy www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2...

  9. The fact that a president can invent a bogus excuse about crime, send in National Guard units from multiple states, and occupy a major U.S. city with barely any resistance says a lot—and none of it good—about Americans.
