The "outspokenness" was the cancel culture by the mob of activists obsessed with politics and not business.

Liz Fong-Jones no. We are not rewriting history here.
Damore was lured into irrelevant political project within the organization by the activists. 
They lied to him when they told him they are interested in his opinion. When he wrote his opinion they cancel-mobbed him because the opinion did not match the agenda.
